About Amid Building Solutions

Amid Building Solutions is a division of Northwood Forest Products International Limited, which was established in 1995.

We pride ourselves in providing a solid and reliable quality product.

We are based in the South West of the UK (we offer delivery to any part of the UK) and manufacture our product in the UK to support our economy and employment.

Our products are unique to our Company – the only place where you can buy an Amid Building Solutions building is from us (with exception of the field shelter and garden shed) and by making bespoke buildings the possibilities are endless.

Why Choose Amid Building Solutions?

Essentially maintenance free products

Our high-pressure treated products come complete with a 15-year warranty against rot and fungal decay (conditions apply – see Terms and Conditions). The treatment prevents rot and fungal decay, which can occur on untreated timber buildings. Because we offer a 15-year warranty the cabin is effectively maintenance free (unless you choose to paint the cabin yourself and need to re-do this on a regular basis).

Logs used for cabin manufacture

Buildings larger then 3.2 x 2.6m are all made from at least 43mm thick logs, buildings larger than 5.3 x 3.8m will be made from either 70/90/120mm thick logs depending on its overall size. Competitors can offer cheaper buildings but they are generally made from thinner profile timber and are therefore not as stable and solid as our quality buildings.

A thinner log product may be cheaper but it will not last you as long and you may need to replace it in a few years costing you more money.

Bespoke buildings - endless possibilities and options

We started with a small range of buildings suitable for the average size garden and although this has been successful we have listened to feedback from our customers/clients and note the need to offer bespoke buildings. As a result we can now offer a wide range of Bespoke buildings and are very happy to quote to your individual specification.

Garden sheds and cabins

Our garden cabin range is perfect for extra space, a home office, to house a Jacuzzi, use as a playroom, and for storage amongst many other uses. Many customers want a wooden building to blend in with the landscape and surrounding area rather than a metal shed or concrete building.

The garden shed is perfect for storage and pottering in.

The mobile field shelter can be moved from field to field and does not require a base, it provides shelter for animals and stocks.

You can use any of our buildings for whatever you wish, the possibilities are endless.

Environmentally friendly

Amid Building Solutions are committed to preserving the environment and our timber is sourced from sustainable and well-managed forests. We are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council - our number is SA-COC-1654 – certified in 2000) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes CATG-PEFC-400-C certified in 2003) certified.

FSC and PEFC acceditations

We work with one of the world’s truly natural and renewable resources. Timber is a Carbon neutral product, even when you take into account energy used for manufacturing and transportation. Trees naturally absorb Carbon Dioxide to produce Oxygen. 1 cubic metre of timber has a carbon output of 33kg. A typical log cabin is between 1-2 cubic metres. For every tonne of CO² a tree absorbs, nearly ¾ of a tonne of oxygen is produced (ECCM using Wood Products to Mitigate Climate Change).

Managed forests are the most efficient carbon sponges and producers of oxygen. The ongoing process of harvesting and replanting ensures there is always a percentage of the forest made up of younger trees that absorb more CO² than mature trees.

The companies we source our timber from have practically zero wastage, any timber left over after machining a product is converted into wood pellets for heating and cattle bedding or wood chips for paper.

Using wood instead of other building materials saves on average 0.9 tonnes of CO² per cubic metre. To give you an idea - a tonne of red brick requires four times the amount of energy to produce than sawn timber. Concrete is five times less carbon efficient and aluminium is 126 times less carbon efficient than timber. (Wood CO²ts Less – The Facts).
